Venom Fang — The Crawling Poison
Stage 12 · Low-attack specialist — applies damage-over-time; punishes passive blocking.

Venom Fang is the fastest boss in the campaign (1.25× speed) and the one that most directly punishes a passive playstyle. Everything about him is designed to defeat the player who wants to sit and block: his attacks are lows, his bites apply damage-over-time, and his Toxic Cloud turns standing still into a slow death.
At 700 HP he is durable, but the fight is really about your discipline. If you block-and-wait, the chip and poison add up faster than you can recover. Venom Fang forces you to stay mobile and keep initiative.

The three phases
Like every boss, Venom Fang runs a three-phase AI that escalates at 66% and 33% remaining HP. Each transition adds aggression and speed — and opens a brief invincible intro you can use to charge Ki.
Phase 1 (100% – 66% HP)
He probes with Venom Strike bites and low Crawl Sweeps. Do not settle into a block — stay light on your feet and answer his recovery, not his approach.
Phase 2 (66% – 33% HP)
Toxic Cloud enters the rotation. When it spawns, the ground becomes a no-go zone; take the fight into the air and reset neutral from a clean position.
Phase 3 (33% – 0% HP)
He layers DoT bites and clouds aggressively, trying to out-tick your health. Ki Burst clears the cloud and stuns him briefly — use it to reclaim the floor and open a punish.
Signature moves & how to counter them
Venom Strike
Damage-over-time bite. A lunging bite that applies a poison tick on top of the initial hit, so even a small connection keeps draining you.
Counter: Avoid the hit entirely rather than trading — the DoT makes every connection cost more than it looks. Dodge-roll through the lunge and punish the recovery.
Crawl Sweep
Low knockdown. A low sweep that knocks you down and cannot be dealt with by simply holding a high block.
Counter: Standing block is not a reliable answer to his lows. Stay mobile and dodge-roll; the i-frames beat the sweep where a block would still eat chip.
Toxic Cloud
AoE poison zone. A lingering ground cloud that ticks poison damage on anyone standing in it, controlling space.
Counter: Get airborne when it spawns and reset neutral from a clean spot. Ki Burst (Shift+E) clears the cloud outright and stuns him — the definitive answer in phase 3.
How to beat Venom Fang
Reject the turtle. Blocking Venom Fang’s lows still lets chip and poison accumulate, so the plan is constant, deliberate movement — dodge-roll his lunges and sweeps and punish on recovery instead of guarding.
Respect the cloud. When Toxic Cloud spawns, leave the ground immediately, reset your position, and re-engage from clean floor rather than fighting inside the poison.
Keep Ki Burst (50%) available for phase 3. It clears the cloud and stuns him at the same time, letting you reclaim the arena and land a real punish when the DoT pressure is highest.
Recommended Ki specials
Ki Burst (50%) to clear Toxic Cloud and stun him; Ki Blast (25%) to poke safely while staying mobile.
Common mistakes
- Sitting in block — chip plus poison punishes passivity harder than any single hit.
- Fighting inside Toxic Cloud instead of resetting from clean ground.
- Trading with Venom Strike; the DoT makes every trade a bad one.
TL;DR
Never turtle — stay mobile, dodge his lows, leave the floor when the cloud drops, and Ki Burst it in phase 3.
