Titan — The Living Mountain
Stage 13 · Super-armor heavy — every hit risks a trade; punish recovery, never brawl.

Titan is the biggest, slowest, and hardest-hitting boss short of the final Dragon King. With 740 HP, 1.9× damage, and super-armor on his startups, he is the ultimate test of the game’s core lesson: do not trade. A single armored Mountain Smash can erase most of your health, and because he armors through your pokes, mashing into him is suicide.
The good news is that he is desperately slow (0.65× speed). Like Iron Fist before him, everything he does is telegraphed and recovers slowly. Titan is a patience check — out-wait the armor, then punish the openings.

The three phases
Like every boss, Titan runs a three-phase AI that escalates at 66% and 33% remaining HP. Each transition adds aggression and speed — and opens a brief invincible intro you can use to charge Ki.
Phase 1 (100% – 66% HP)
He advances slowly behind armored pokes and occasional Boulder Throws. Do not try to interrupt armored startups — wait for the recovery and take a single clean punish.
Phase 2 (66% – 33% HP)
Quake Stomp AoE and more frequent Mountain Smash appear. Keep off the ground when he stomps and keep depth-dodging the boulders. Charge Ki during his long recoveries.
Phase 3 (33% – 0% HP)
His damage is now catastrophic and armor is up more often. Trade absolutely nothing. This is what your saved Dragon Fist is for — land it during a Mountain Smash recovery to close the fight.
Signature moves & how to counter them
Mountain Smash
Armored overhead. A slow, armored overhead that plows through your pokes and does enormous damage. His signature trade-punisher.
Counter: Do not try to beat it with a normal — the armor eats it. Wait it out, dodge-roll clear, and whiff-punish the very long recovery with your heaviest confirm.
Quake Stomp
AoE ground shock. A ground stomp that sends a shock across the floor around him, punishing grounded neighbors.
Counter: Leave the floor — jump or use the depth move (↑/↓). Punish the landing; it recovers slowly like everything he does.
Boulder Throw
Projectile. A thrown boulder that gives him a ranged option and covers your approach lanes.
Counter: It is linear — depth-shift (↑/↓) off its path and keep advancing. Do not block it if you can simply sidestep it and save the chip.
How to beat Titan
Never trade with an armored startup. If Titan is winding up Mountain Smash, your job is to be somewhere else — dodge-roll clear and wait for the recovery. Only then do you attack.
Whiff-punish, don’t brawl. His enormous recovery windows are big enough for a Launcher (↑W) juggle or a heavy Roundhouse (S). Take one clean punish and reset; do not linger next to him.
Use his downtime to build meter. Titan’s slow pace gives you time to charge Ki (E) safely after knocking him into a recovery, so you can bank a full Dragon Fist (100%) for the phase-3 transition.
Recommended Ki specials
Dragon Fist (100%) saved for the phase-3 transition; Ki Blast (25%) for safe chip while you wait out armor.
Common mistakes
- Mashing into armored startups — the armor eats your hit and the counter deletes you.
- Standing on the ground during Quake Stomp.
- Spending meter early; Titan’s phase 3 is the textbook place to unload a saved super.
TL;DR
Don’t trade into armor — dodge, wait out the recovery, whiff-punish, and bank a Dragon Fist for phase 3.
